Frequently asked questions
Common questions about GrooveCut — the browser-based music editor for dance and ballet teachers.
Can I slow music down without changing the pitch?
Yes. GrooveCut uses time-stretching with pitch-lock, so the tempo drops while the key stays exactly where it was — no chipmunk effect, no muddy slowdown.
How do I loop one section for choreography?
Select the phrase on the waveform (it snaps to the bar) and turn on loop. GrooveCut repeats that section continuously so you can teach hands-free.
Can it remove vocals or give me an instrumental?
Yes. GrooveCut's stem split separates the vocal and instrumental tracks in the browser. Keep whichever stem you need and export it.
Do I need to install anything?
No. GrooveCut runs entirely in your browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. No app download, no plugins.
Is it free?
GrooveCut is free for PBT members during the public beta. All features are included with an active PBT Online Training membership at no extra cost.
What is GrooveCut best for?
Dance and ballet teachers who need to prep class and choreography music: adjusting tempo, looping 8-counts for drilling, removing vocals for exams, and snapping edits to the beat.
